Export Overview
Vietnam has long been known as one of the leading coconut producers and exporters in the world, with coconut cultivation deeply rooted in the Mekong Delta, especially in Ben Tre province, often referred to as Vietnam’s “coconut capital.” Vietnamese coconut products have been exported for decades to various countries, serving diverse industries including food processing, beverage, cosmetics, and handicrafts.
Over the past three years, Vietnam’s coconut exports have shown a steady growth trend. In 2022, the total export value of coconut products reached approximately USD 900 million, mainly including fresh coconuts, desiccated coconut, coconut water, and coconut oil. In 2023, despite global economic challenges, Vietnam’s coconut export value slightly increased to around USD 950 million, thanks to high demand from key markets such as the United States, China, and South Korea. In the first half of 2024, coconut exports continued to maintain growth momentum, with significant increases in fresh coconut and coconut water exports. Vietnamese coconut products are highly valued for their quality, competitive prices, and stable supply, reinforcing Vietnam’s position as one of the world’s leading coconut exporters.
